Box Score MARYVILLE, TENN. – Berry College lost at Maryville College, 108-91, on Wednesday night.
The Vikings dropped to 2-5 and the Scots improved to 6-2.
Freshman Blake Scherrman led Berry with 19 points. He was 6-of-12 shooting, made three 3-pointers and converted all four of his free throws.
Caleb Johnson added 11 points for the Vikes. He was 4-of-12 from the field and collected five rebounds.
The game featured three lead changes and was tied twice. Berry held its biggest lead (five points) with 18:07 left in the first period. Maryville held a 44-36 lead at halftime.
For the game, Maryville shot 52-percent (31-of-66) to BC's 44-percent (28-of-64). The Vikings led in rebounds (45-42) and MC had the edge in 3-pointers (11-7). The Scots shot 20-41 free throws (72-percent) to Berry's 28-45 (62-percent).
Maryville had four players reach double digits for points in the contest. Spencer Shoffner led the way with 29 points on 9-of-13 shooting. Tyler Spicer contributed 21 points for the Scots.
Berry plays Eastern Connecticut State on Sunday at the Daytona Beach (Fla.) Shootout.
