Box Score DANVILLE, Ky. -- Centre College used a big second half to defeat visiting Berry College, 80-64, on Sunday.
Berry dropped to 11-10 and 4-6 in the Southern Athletic Association and Centre improved to 14-7, 8-2.
Chanlir Segarra posted a team-high 14 points, converted 10-10 free throws, and dished seven assists. Marissa Ivey came off the bench to contribute 11 points. Like Segarra, she made three 3-pointers. Emma Cook grabbed 11 rebounds for the Vikings.
Berry came out strong and led 38-28 at halftime. The Colonels, however, held BC to 7-30 shooting (23-percent) in the final 20 minutes. Centre went on a 12-0 run start the second half en route to the win.
Alanna Gay scored a game-best 20 points to lead the home club. Centre committed just seven turnovers and forced 12 Viking miscues.
"We expected a tough game today and we answered the call early," said Berry Head Coach Stephanie Dunn. "We allowed Centre's physical play down the stretch to dictate the outcome of the game. We split with Centre on the season and we may see them again. We will continue to learn from our mistakes and get ready for the next game."
The Vikings host Rhodes College on Friday night.
