Box Score ROME, Ga. -- Mac Whalen scored a career high 33 points, but Berry College lost to visiting LaGrange, 119-91, on Wednesday night. Whalen was 11-13 from the field, made 3-5 three-pointers and grabbed seven rebounds.
Hunter Smoak added 21 points Owen Jacobs scored 17 and had a team-best 10 rebounds. The double-double was the ninth in 11 games for Jacobs.
Berry scored a season-best 91 points in the contest, but also gave up the most points this year to the hot-shooting Panthers. LaGrange shot a torrid 56-percent from the field (41-73), including 14-22 (64-percent) from beyond the arc.
The Panthers got a career-high 26 points from Mark Wagner. Wagner was 9-of-14 from the floor, including making 6-of-9 from 3-point range. Patrick Dugger followed Wagner with a double-double of 18 points and a game-high 17 rebounds.
The Panthers never trailed. They scored the game's first nine points and led 16-4 just five minutes into the game. LaGrange led 60-34 at the break.
The visitors led in rebounds, 50-36. The Vikings in converting just 20-39 free throws in the game.
The defeat was the seventh straight for Berry, which dropped to 3-8. LaGrange improved to 8-5 after winning its fourth straight contest.
The Vikings return to action on Friday night in Memphis, Tenn. against Rhodes College.
