Women downed at Rhodes

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Chanlir Segarra scored a game-high 21 points in Berry College's 84-60 defeat at Rhodes College on Friday night. Segarra was 7-11 from the field and made 6-7 free throws in the contest.

Berry dropped to 5-6 and 0-2 in the Southern Athletic Association. Rhodes improved to 9-2

Mel McLean added 12 points and Emma Cook recorded 10 for the Vikings. Megan Walsh grabbed a game-best 12 rebounds. BC, however, was felled by 28 turnovers and was out-rebounded, 43-27.

Lauren Avant scored 19 points and Dy'Nelle Todman contributed 19 for the Lynx. 

In the first half, The Vikings held an 8-7 lead with 16:45 left in the opening period before RC surged ahead. Berry was held to 32-percent shooting (6-19) and committed 14 turnovers in the opening period. Conversely, Rhodes shot 15-33 (46-percent) and had just six miscues. The Lynx got a put-back at the buzzer to take a 41-27 lead at the break.

The Vikings play at Hendrix in Conway, Ark. on Sunday afternoon.
