Berry Men Downed at Centre College

DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre College defeated Berry College, 71-47, in a Southern Athletic Association game on Sunday afternoon. Freshman Jake Wright recorded a game-high 14 points for the visitors.

Wright was 7-9 from the field and his point total was a career high as well.  Jonathan Abram scored 10 points and reached double-digits for the 14th time this year.

Berry dropped to 4-13, 1-5. Centre, which led from start to finish, improved to 12-3, 5-1.

CC shot 43-percent from the field to Berry's 36-percent. The Colonels had 63 shots to 45 for BC. The home team made 10 treys to two for the visitors.

Centre led 29-20 at halftime. Berry forced 10 turnovers, but committed 19 miscues. Centre had the edge in rebounds, 38-33. Berry's 47 points was a season low.

Twelve of the 14 student-athletes who played for Centre scored in the contest. Byron Ellis and Josh Karsner  paced the Colonels with 11 points apiece.

"For the second straight game, Jake Wright was a bright spot for us," said BC Head Coach Jeff Haarlow. "Give Centre credit; they are playing well right now and with confidence. We need to learn from this game and look forward."

The Vikings travel to Birmingham-Southern next Friday night.
