Box Score ROME, Ga. -- Chanlir Segarra scored a game-high 20 points as Berry College won its home opener vs. Covenant, 67-50, on Tuesday night.
Berry improved to 2-3 and handed the Scots (3-1) their first setback.
Segarra also dished six assists and made all six of her free throws. Megan Walsh added 16 points and 17 rebounds for the Vikings. Allison Lawrence also had a double-double with 10 points and 13 boards.
The Vikings held a 26-19 edge at halftime. Both teams shot 22-percent in the first half.
After two free throws from Alexis Storterboom, the Scots trailed 49-44 with 7:31 remaining. The home team then went on a 14-1 run over the next six minutes and pulled away.
Berry led in rebounds, 56-45. The Vikings converted 18-28 free throws to 6-15 for the Scots. BC improved its shooting to 50 percent (14-28) in the final 20 minutes.
"When we played together, we did what we wanted and put points on the board," said Berry Head Coach Stephanie Dunn.
Jessie Blankenship tallied 12 points and had 13 rebounds for Covenant.
Berry opens SAA play at Oglethorpe on Thursday night.
"Oglethorpe has a good inside and outside game," Dunn said. "We'll need to play well and not have any lapses to win on the road."
