Walsh Tallies 17 Points, 18 Rebounds, But Berry Falls On The Road

Box Score

Rhodes Overcomes Huge Game By Walsh To Defeat Berry 52-50

Berry's Megan Walsh scored 17 points and hauled down a career high 18 rebounds, but Rhodes defeated the Lady Vikings 52-50 in a women's basketball game in Memphis, Tenn., Friday.

Rhodes led for most of the game, taking the lead for good when Natalie Goodrum hit a 3-pointer that put the Lynx ahead 20-17 with 3:48 remaining in the first half.  Still, Rhodes' lead never grew into double figures, and the Lady Vikings fought back to within a point with under a minute remaining in the contest.

But after Walsh nailed a pair of free throws that made the score 51-50 with just 54 seconds on the clock, neither team was able to convert from the field.  The Lady Vikings missed a pair of free throws with less than 40 seconds left, but were given life when Rhodes also missed from the charity stripe with 15 seconds on the clock.  However, the Lynx' Sharwil Bell hit the second of two free throws to give Rhodes a two-point cushion.

The Lady Vikings turned the ball over on its final possession to give the Lynx the victory.

Walsh also blocked four shots in the game for Berry.  She was joined in double figures by Brittany Coughlan, who finished with 15 points and five rebounds.

Bell led all players with 25 points for Rhodes, while Sarah Johnson added 10 for the Lynx.

Berry is scheduled to return to action Dec. 30, when it hosts Hendrix at 4 p.m., at the Cage Center.
