Box Score Alulla Leads Berry With 14 Points, But Panthers Top Vikings Sunday
Berry guard Nasser Almulla scored 14 points, but No. 22 Birmingham-Southern defeated the Vikings 103-55 in the last game of BSC's Black Tie Tournament at Bill Battle Coliseum in Birmingham Sunday.
Birmingham-Southern (3-0) bolted out to a double-digit lead just three-and-a-half minutes into the contest, and the Panthers' advantage never fell below 10 points the rest of the game.
The Vikings (0-3) just couldn't get things going on the offensive end Sunday, shooting just 33.9 percent (20-for-59) in the game. By the time the second half rolled around, they had already dug themselves into a 58-22 hole by shooting just 29.6 (8-for-27) from the field.
With just one player standing taller than 6-foot-2, the poor shooting night doomed the Vikings, who were outrebounded by BSC 49-24 Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Panthers jumped out to a blazing start, hitting a whopping 62.9 percent (22-for-35) from the field in the first 20 minutes before finishing the game shooting 57.7 percent (41-for-71).
Almulla also dished out a team best three assists in the game. He was joined in double figures in the scoring column by Michael Schulte, who added 10 points on 5-for-10 shooting.
Mac Whalen and Lake Graham each chipped in nine points and six boards for the Vikings.
Birmingham-Southern's Kevin Kegarise scored a game high 22 points, hitting 8-of-10 shots in the process. Zac Richards added 12 points and a game high seven rebounds, and Blaise White scored 10 points.
Berry returns to action this Tuesday when it hosts No. 13 Emory at 8 p.m., at the Cage Center.
