A 15-3 run to end the first half gave Berry a nine-point advantage, and the Lady Vikings never looked back en route to a 56-41 victory over Blackburn College in Berry's 2010-11 debut Friday night at the Country Hearth Inn/Famous Recipe Classic, hosted by Centre College in Danville, Ky.
The Lady Vikings (1-0) trailed 14-11 with just under eight minutes remaining in the opening half when they erupted for 13 consecutive points to turn a three-point deficit into a 10-point advantage. Berry would take a 26-17 lead into the lockerroom at halftime.
The Lady Vikings extended their lead to as many as 18 point in the second half.
Berry was led by Erica Crumley, who scored a game-high 19 points. Crumley was 5-for-12 from three-point range. She also hauled down nine rebounds.
Brittany Coughlin scored eight points for Berry, while Carol Lampley led all players with 15 rebounds.
Andrea Kleinsorge led Blackburn (0-2) with nine points.
Berry plays Centre Saturday at 3 p.m.
