JACKSON, Miss. – The Berry College women's basketball team fell 46-40 in their conference opener against Millsaps on Saturday.
Millsaps (4-0, 3-0 SAA) prevailed on defense, holding Berry (0-1, 0-1 SAA) to 23.1 percent from the field and 11.1 percent from the three-point line.
Taelor Manning proved to be a problem for the Vikings as she connected with 16 points, six rebounds and three steals. For Berry, junior
Kennedy Moore led the team with nine points.
Although Millsaps led from start to finish, Berry clawed their way back in a thrilling fourth quarter with a 7-0 run, six of which was contributed from senior
Capri Frazier, cutting the Majors' lead to just one. However, a few late turnovers and a steal by Manning resulting in a layup ultimately sealed the deal for Millsaps.
The Vikings will face the Majors for game two of the series tomorrow at 2 p.m. EST. To keep up with the latest Berry College women's basketball news, follow the team on Twitter @BerryVikings or @BerryWBB.
