ROME, Ga. — Berry College's Abby Carroll and Meredith Herman are prepped to compete at the NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country National Championship in Winneconne, Wis. this Saturday.
Berry's women's team finished fifth out of 32 total teams at last week's South/Southeast Regional Championship meet on Berry's campus, led by Carroll and Herman. The pair make up part of the 56 individual qualifiers from across the nation and also earned All-Region honors.
"This meet squeezes 280 very competitive runners into the same spot," head coach Paul Deaton said. "The intensity of that competitive atmosphere is much higher than any other race. Both Abby and Meredith are very capable and very excited for this weekend."
Carroll earned a fourth place finish with a time of 22:41.93 while Herman placed sixth with a 22:52.20. This is Carroll's second-straight trip to NCAA Nationals and will be Herman's first. This is also the second straight season the Berry has send two competitors to the national meet from the women's team.
The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh is hosting the championships Nov. 17 at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne, Wisconsin. The women’s race will begin at 11:15 a.m.
