ROME, Ga. -- The Berry women's track team raced at the Shorter Invitational in stormy weather conditions. Berry runners competed in the 1500m and 800m.

Opening the meet were freshman Danielle Ferro and junior Annika Stryker (pictured) in the 1500m. This was Ferro's first time racing the 1500m, and she came in at a solid 5:15.47. Ferro ranked eighth overall out of the 33 runners who competed in the race. Stryker posted a 6:18.70 and placed 29th overall.

Junior Nicole Fredette and freshman Noelle Franklin competed against 40 other runners in the 800m. Fredette clocked in at 2:36.58, finishing 18th overall. Franklin raced her first 800m race and placed 27th overall with a time of 2:47.99.

"I was extremely nervous for my first 800," Franklin said. "But during the race, I was focused, and it felt very surreal. It was very different from the 400 overall, but I think I did pretty well for my first time!"

Berry will next race at the Cumberlands Invitational on April 12th.
