Volleyball Rockets to No. 4 in AVCA Top-25

LEXINGTON, Ky. — After a 3-1 weekend at the Berry National Invitational including a near-reverse sweep of the No. 1 Emory University Eagles, the Vikings volleyball team shot up to No. 4 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top-25, a new program best.

The Vikings earned wins over then No. 20 UMHB, No. 14 CNU and a hot Endicott team. Berry's record currently sits at 6-1 and now boast wins over three nationally ranked opponents.

In front of a packed Cage Center, Berry welcomed Emory and took the Eagles to the brink. Emory secured the opening set 25-23 in a back-and-forth affair, and quickly went up 2-0 after claiming set two 25-22. The Vikings then claimed set three 27-25 and were dominant in set four to force a fifth set. Berry went up 13-9 in the final set, but a veteran Emory team rallied to score the final six points and escape with the win. Berry's Peyton Breissinger was named to the All-Tournament team.

The Vikings travel to the Wittenberg Fall Classic this weekend.
