NEW ORLEANS — Berry College's Alexa Bilsky and Genesis Leggett claimed 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field All-Region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the association announced on Sunday.
The top-five individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top-three ranked relay teams. A total of 1,915 honors were handed out to athletes from USTFCCCA member institutions, which included a near-even split between men’s (951) and women’s programs (964).
Bilsky, a senior from Peachtree City, Ga., earned her fourth straight All-Region nod in the javelin. She claimed a second place finish in the javelin at the 2019 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Championships, earning her fourth straight All-Conference honor.
Leggett, a junior from Live Oak, Fla., earned her third straight All-Region honor, claiming recognition in both the shot put and hammer throw. She earned her second career Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Women’s Field Athlete of the Year honor earlier this season. She won the women’s shot put with a new outdoor PR, breaking her school record in the process at the SAA Champioships. She also claimed first in the hammer throw and was fourth in the discus.
