NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Members of the women's track & field team closed the season competing in the 5000m at the North Central Dr. Keeler Invitational this past weekend. There were 55 runners who competed in the event.
Sophomore Danielle Ferro led the way for the Vikings, posting a personal best time of 18:57.32 with a 30th place finish. Junior Rachel Dorris achieved a six second personal record in the 5000m, finishing with a time of 19:29.37. She finished 36th out of 55 runners.
"Traveling up to Chicago and being able to race such talented and fast runners was a lot of fun," said Dorris. "I have not raced a 5000m on the track in two years, so it was good to get back out there and run a six second PR."
Seniors Nicole Fredette and Hibah Abuhamdieh competed in their last collegiate race. Fredette broke the 20-minute barrier, posting a time of 19:58.16 and a 44th place finish. Abuhamdieh ran a 19:58.34, finishing 45th overall.
