Women ran at North Florida Twilight

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Berry women's track team raced Friday evening at the North Florida Twilight meet. This meet featured great competition from teams around the Southeast. The Berry women competed in the 1500 and the 5000.

The first event for the Berry women was the 1500m. Senior Nicole Fredette and freshman Alainna Chretien represented Berry in a very strong field. Fredette raced hard to finish in a time of 5:06.32, a 2 second PR, and a 21st place overall finish. Chretien came in with a time of 5:42.83 and placed 28th overall.

The Vikings then raced in the 5000m. Berry was represented by seniors Hibah Abuhamdieh, Kayla Heflin, Leslie Stewart and Annika Stryker; sophomore Danielle Ferro, and freshman Nina Thomason. Ferro finished first for Berry with a time of 18:57.47 (a 13 second PR) and 13th place overall. Abuhamadieh clocked a time of 19:49.94 (a 4 second PR) and placed 19th. Thomason came in at 19:55.46 and 21st overall.

"It was great being able to run with Hibah during my race," Thomason said. "Even when I was hurting I just told myself to stay with her which helped me a lot."

Heflin had a very strong race and finished in 20:23.52. She claimed the biggest PR of the day of 16 seconds and finished 23rd overall. Stryker finished in 20:44.24 with a 27th overall finish. Stewart ran a college PR of 21:19.48 and placed 30th.

The Vikings will compete next at the SAA Track and Field Championships in Memphis, Tenn. on April 24-25th.
