Since being named head coach, in his eight seasons he has accumulated a 112-85 overall record.

He has coached, two SAA All-Conference tournament team members, All-SAA players, and SAA Academic Honor Roll Student-Athletes.

In the 2024-2025 season, he eclipsed 100 wins in a victory against Warren Wilson. Johnson led the Vikings to an 18-8 overall record, as well as an 8-4 conference record. The 18-8 overall record included a historic 6-1 start to begin the season. Johnson capped off the year with four players being named to All-SAA Teams, including Briaiah Lewis who won SAA Rookie of the Year.

Recently he placed a player on the D3Hoops All-Region squad during the 2023-2024 season as the team won 18 games and went 11-3 in SAA play.

During the 2022-2023 year, the Vikings made it all the way to the Conference semi-finals, and in 2022 they were the SAA runner-ups in the regular season poll.

The 2018-19 squad won nine straight conference games, the team’s longest winning streak in the NCAA DIII era.

The 2017-18 season was the first with him at the helm after serving four years as the assistant coach for the men's team. In his first season as head coach, Johnson led his team to a 13-14 overall record, as well as a 6-8 conference record, as the Vikings finished third overall in the SAA tournament. Behind Johnson, Berry also rounded out the year with two all-conference honorees and an upset victory over top-ranked Oglethorpe University on senior night.

In his four years helping coach the men's squad, Johnson helped the Vikings earn nine All-SAA and SAA Academic Honor Roll selections including a league Newcomer-of-the-Year in his first season.

Johnson came to Berry after four years (2010-13) assisting at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tenn. Some of his responsibilities included player development, recruiting student- athletes, and working closely with the academic athletic director.

Johnson previously held similar positions at Samford University, Middle Tennessee State and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He also was a successful high school head coach at programs in the Birmingham and Memphis areas.
