Women's Lacrosse Claims First Win of Year Over Madonna 16-13

ROME, Ga. – The Berry College women’s lacrosse team earned its first win of the season on Wednesday night against Madonna University, claiming a 16-13 victory. 

The Vikings are now 1-5 on the year. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Madonna jumped to a 2-0 advantage in the first eight minutes.
  • Berry then went on a 7-0 run to make it 7-2 win just over eight minutes to play in the opening half.
  • Madonna would score three more before the half, but the Vikings held an 8-5 lead at the break.
  • In the first three minutes of the second half Berry extended their lead to 11-5.
  • With a 13-11 advantage at eight minutes left in the game, Berry scored three consecutive goals making it 16-11 to slow the Crusaders' rally.
  • Despite two goals toward the end by Madonna, Berry was able to hold on and win 16-13.
