Lady Vikings Finish Eighth In Tournament Hosted by Mercer

Lacey Sheppard fired a team-best 84 on Monday's second round to finish 26th individually and help Berry finish eighth in the team standings at the Eat A Peach Collegiate hosted by Mercer University at Oakview Golf Club in Macon.

Sheppard finished with a 36-hole score of 88-84-172 to tie for 26th place.  And, while Sheppard was the lone Berry player to shoot in the 80s Monday, the Lady Vikings shaved six strokes off their first round team score to finish at 366-360-726.

Other Berry players included Chelsea Hoag, who finished tied for 34th at 84-90-174; Nicole Wood, who tied for 46th at 94-94-188; Morgan Johnston, who tied for 49th at 100-92-192; and Lauren Buschhorn, who finished 55th at 102-97-199. 

Host Mercer ran away with the team title, as every player in its lineup finished in the top four. Mercer finished at 295-292-587, 43 strokes ahead of second-place Shorter (306-324-630).

The Bears' Lacey Fears earned the individual medal, with a 36-hole score of 73-72-145.  Teammates Mary Alice Murphy and Sara Louie Brown tied for second with a two-round score of 147, and their other teammates, Aurelie Wiriath and Kimberly Graff each shot 149 over 36 holes to tie for fourth.

Armstrong Atlantic (329-305-634) finished third, followed by Coastal Georgia (336-329-665), Piedmont (340-347-687), SCAD-Atlanta (347-341-688) and Oglethorpe (348-354-702).  Reinhardt (370-356-726) and Truett-McConnell (383-393-776) finished behind Berry.

The Lady Vikings are scheduled to return to action Oct. 3-4, when they host the Chick-Fil-A Collegiate Invitational at Stonebridge Golf Club.
