Sandman Puts Panthers to Sleep With Buzzer-Beater on Senior Day

ROME, Ga. — Madeline Sandman hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to give the Berry College women's basketball team its seventh straight win over Southern Athletic Association (SAA) opponents, improving on their program record. The win evens the Vikings' record at 11-11 overall and 7-4 in the SAA. Birmingham-Southern falls to 8-14 and 5-6 in league play. 

Berry's seven conference wins are the team's most since the 2014-15 season when they went 9-5 in league play. 

Sandman's buzzer-beater capped an eight-point performance for the freshman. Mary Walters, McKenzie Smith and Jana Morning all scored double-digits including a double-double for Smith and Walters.

The Vikings are peaking at the right time, finishing 9-3 in the Cage Center during the regular season. Despite trailing 39-33 heading to the fourth quarter, Berry outscored the Panthers 27-19 in the fourth to secure the win.
