Women's Basketball Falls to Centre in SAA Quarterfinals

JACKSON, Miss. — The Berry College women's basketball team was outscored 22-8 in the final quarter, as the Vikings closed the season with a 57-44 loss to Centre College in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) tournament quarterfinals. 

The Vikings close the season 13-13 overall with a 9-5 mark in SAA play, tying the program record for SAA victories. 

Berry was led offensively by Alex Weems and Mary Walters who each scored double-digits. Weems contributed a double-double with 19 points and 10 boards while Walters added 14 on 6-of-12 shooting. Centre held the Vikings to just a 27.6% shooting percentage from the floor. Berry also shot 55% at the free throw line and were just 1-of-14 from range. 

Despite a forgettable shooting night all around, the Vikings led 26-21 at the half. Centre began to fight back in the third, outscoring Berry 14-10 before the Colonels dominated the final period to secure the win.
