ATLANTA — Berry College's Alex Weems and Jana Morning have been selected to the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) All-Conference second team, the league office announced on Monday.
The Vikings closed the season 13-13 overall and 9-5 in conference play, tying the program's single-season record for SAA victories.
Weems, a senior from Douglasville, Ga., will graduate as a two-time All-SAA winner. She became just the third Viking in the team's NCAA Division III era to score 1,000 career points earlier this year, scoring 1,107 for her career. That mark places her third in the team's DIII era for scoring. She also holds the DIII era program record for most free throws made in a career with 422 and is third with 536 rebounds. On the year, Weems was second in the league in scoring with 14.5 points per game.
Morning, a sophomore from Cartersville, Ga., earns her first All-Conference selection after a career season. She averaged 9.4 points per game on the year and helped Berry to a nine-game winning streak, averaging 17.3 points per game during that stretch. She closed the season ranked top-10 in the SAA with 2.7 assists per game, a 70.7 free throw percentage and 38 total steals.
