Softball Earns NFCA Academic Honors for 2019 Season

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Berry College softball team received academic honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) for their academic success during the 2019 season.

The program earned All-Academic team recognition after posting a 3.41 team GPA, ranking 59th in the country. Only Hendrix (3.48) and Rhodes (3.55) were ahead of the Vikings in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA). 

These rankings recognize the academic proficiency of softball teams across the NFCA's membership categories. NCAA Division III led the way with 1,928 student-athletes earning a 3.5 grade-point average or higher during the 2018-19 campaign. A total of six Vikings earned individual Easton/NFCA Scholar-Athlete recognition. These athletes include: Samantha Crabtree Meredith Holland Kayla Sangrey Emily Schechter Genna Telschow and Brooke Whittemore.

The program also placed seven athletes on the Spring SAA Academic Honor Roll for 2019. Berry finished the 2019 season with a 27-13 overall record and ranked second in the SAA.
