Softball Tops Millsaps in Doubleheader Sweep

JACKSON, Miss. – The No. 8 Berry College softball team remained undefeated in Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play on Saturday, topping the Millsaps Majors 4-0 and 6-1 to improve to 18-3 on the year. 


  • In a well-pitched game, Brittany Tuttle opened up Berry scoring in game one, reaching first on an error in the top of the fifth inning to bring home Kasey Locke and give Berry their first 1-0 lead of the day.
  • Kylie Aiken then singled through the right side in the same inning, bringing home both Tuttle and Madison Morgan to expand the lead to 3-0.
  • Elisabeth Federici then rounded out scoring, doubling down the left field line to bring home Aiken and ensure the 4-0 victory.
  • Federici led all-batters in the outing, hitting 3-for-4 at the plate, while adding an RBI and two doubles.
  • Kassie Howard (10-1) threw all seven innings in the contest to earn the win in the circle, allowing four hits and no runs, while striking out nine batters.


  • Makayley Cain opened scoring in the second contest, adding an infield fly RBI to bring home Aiken and give Berry a 1-0 lead.
  • Aiken then added a three-run home run of her own in the top of the fifth inning, pushing the lead to 4-0.
  • Aiken remained hot at the plate, rounding out Berry scoring with a two RBI double in the top of the seventh inning to move the score to 6-0.
  • Millsaps then looked for a comeback, as Shauna Blady singled through the left side of the infield to bring home Jordan Lipari in the bottom of the seventh inning and cut the lead to 6-1, but the Vikings would hold on to secure the win.
  • Aiken led Berry offensively in the contest, finishing the outing with two hits, two runs and five RBIs.
  • Makenzie Flynt (3-1) earned the win in the circle for Berry, tossing all seven innings. She allowed eight hits and no earned runs, while striking out two batters.

Berry will take on Millsaps in game three of the series tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. in Jackson, Miss.
