ROME, Ga. — The Berry College Track and Field teams will be opening their outdoor season this Saturday, hosting the Victor Icebreaker Duals.

The Victor Icebreaker Duals continues to be a unique meet, with teams being scored invitational style, but with dual meet format. Featured teams will be separated into groups of three, going head to head. The meet will feature 18 teams: 7 DIII schools, 9 DII schools, one NAIA school and one NCCAA school. From the Southern Athletic Association (SAA), Sewanee and Oglethorpe will attend in addition to Emory, Piedmont, and Covenant. Local college Shorter University, West Georgia, and North Georgia will also make an appearance. Berry will be scored against Oglethorpe and Sewanee.

“Getting to host a home meet is a great way to start the outdoor season. We have traditionally kicked off the season strong at this meet and getting to compete on home track is a bonus. This meet is bigger than it has been the previous two years and is becoming a popular event for many schools wanting to get an early jump on their outdoor season. I’m looking forward to seeing our athletes compete in their outdoor events as many of them have been chomping at the bit to do events like the 400H, Javelin, and Discus.” – Head Coach Luke Syverson

Field events start with the Men’s Shot Put and Women’s Hammer Throw at 9:30 a.m. and running events at 10:00 a.m. with the Women’s 5,000m. Live updates can be found on twitter at @BerryXCTF
