Men's and Women's Tennis Fall to Birmingham-Southern

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Both the men’s and women’s tennis teams fell to Birmingham-Southern College in Southern Athletic Association (SAA) matchups on the road Sunday morning. The men’s team fell to the Panthers 4-5, while the women’s team lost 1-8 on the day. 

Sydney Stone earned the sole women’s win on the day, defeating Alyssa Yager, 3-6, 6-2 and 10-7 in the No. 3 singles spot for Berry. The men’s No. 2 doubles team of Chase Gooding and Rory Glatt opened up the day with an 8-5 win for the Vikings. Gooding (7-6, 4-6, 6-2), Ryan Miner (6-4, 4-6, 6-2) and Glatt (6-3, 6-3) then rounded out scoring for Berry on the day, earning singles victories for the Vikings as well. 

With the loss, the men’s team falls to 6-6 overall, as well as 2-2 in conference play. The women’s team moves to 8-4 and 2-2 on the year.


Both teams will travel to Jackson, Miss., on Monday, April 9, to take on Millsaps College beginning at 10:00 a.m.
