ROME, Ga. — The Berry College men's and women's swimming & diving teams both finished second at the final home meet of the season on Saturday.
Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Birmingham-Southern claimed first on both sides in the two-day Viking Classic Invitational meet. Brenau took third for the women and Point finished fourth. On the men's side, Point finished third behind BSC and the Vikings.
The meet was highlighted on the women's side by a new pool record in the 1,650 freestyle by Brooke Boyd who swam a time of 17:58.99. Boyd also finished second in the 500 yard Freestyle with a time of 5:20.59 and took first in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:01.47.
On the women's side, Haley Brown claimed first in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 24.64. Also winning their events were Josie Hadaway and Sarah Pierce who claimed first in the 100 and 200 Butterfly, respectively.
The men were led by wins in the 200 Freestyle Relay and 400 Medley Relay. Dylan White also claimed first in the 100 & 200 Backstroke and 500 Freestyle. Michael Bemis took first in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 21.82. Cole Beddingfield rounded out the winners with a first place finish in the 200 Butterfly with a time of 2:00.95.
Berry will compete in one more meet at Birmingham-Southern on Jan. 19 before the SAA Championships on Feb. 13-16.
