ROME, Ga. — The Berry College men's soccer team erupted for five goals in the second half against Millsaps College, earning the team's first conference win 5-3.
With the win, Berry is now 7-5-1 overall on and 1-2-0 in SAA play. Millsaps fell to 5-6-0 and 1-2-0.
The Vikings had a tough start, surrendering an own goal just 35 seconds into the match. Millsaps then scored in the 21st minute to go up 2-0 and carry that lead to the half. Berry scored its first goal in the 74th minute off a header from Connor Davis and an assist from JP Phillips. Millsaps answered just seconds later off a Brett Judd score to go up 3-1. Josh Pruett then talliedwith a shot over the keeper just 20 seconds later to make the score 3-2. Henry Asbill tied it up in the 79th minute off a rebounded save. Henry Arato then scored off an assist from Jake Williamson in the 83rd minute to put the Vikings ahead. Jake Williamson scored in the 89th minute, tying Berry's NCAA DIII era record for goals in a career and a season.
Berry returns home on Sunday to host BSC.
