Men's Soccer Eliminated in Overtime at Oglethorpe

ATLANTA — Berry College's upset bid came to a halt on Friday night, as the Vikings' season was ended with a late overtime goal by Oglethorpe to eliminate Berry from the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) tournament. 

The Stormy Petrel's Ryan Marcano scored the first goal of the game in the 32nd minute, finding the back of the net off a pass from Nash Wagnon to give Oglethorpe an early 1-0 lead in front of over 1,700 fans. Alec Jones then scored his first goal of his career off a ball from Henry Arato in the 81st minute to send the game to overtime. After battling hard defensively, Oglethorpe's Gabriel Alvarez eventually found the back of the net in the 99th minute of play, ensuring the Stormy Petrels' 2-1 victory.

Despite being outshot 22-6, the Vikings defense allowed just seven shots on goal with Carson Oakes collecting five saves, earning All-Tournament recognition.
