CJ Stone Returns Kick 90 Yards in NCAA Opening Round

After the Berry College football team secured the program's first undefeated regular season (10-0) and second straight Southern Athletic Association (SAA) title, nearly 2,400 fans packed Valhalla Stadium to witness the Vikings face Huntingdon College in the opening round of the NCAA Playoffs. At the time, the Vikings were ranked No. 18 in the country, averaging 34.2 points per game while allowing just 15.6 on the year.

Berry struck first in the game, jumping out to a 6-0 lead in the first quarter. The Hawks were able to get three back off a 42-yard field goal from Chase Young on their next possession. Several drives later, Berry's Will Kenworthy would have a punt blocked, giving Huntingdon possession on Berry's 20-yard-line. The Hawks went on to score and take a 10-6 lead.

Then, for the first time in program history, Berry returned the ensuing kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown courtesy of CJ Stone

"Huntingdon's lead would hold for just a few seconds, as Berry's CJ Stone took Chase Young's ensuing kickoff 90 yards for the Vikings first ever kickoff return for a touchdown, giving Berry a 13-10 lead."
