ATLANTA — Berry College's Bryson Lamboy has been named the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Football Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Lamboy led the No. 12 Vikings football team to a 44-3 win over Sewanee in front of a record-setting 4,611 fans on Saturday night. The Vikings now sit at 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA), remaining in first place in the league. The win pushed Berry's winning streak to 21-straight regular-season contests and 14-straight games at Valhalla Stadium.
He led the Berry defense with five total tackles, three sacks, four tackles for a loss, a forced fumble and a batted pass in just three quarters of play. His strip-sack came on Sewanee’s first possession, setting the tone for the remainder of the game. Lamboy and the Berry defense held Sewanee to just 90-yards of total offense, a Berry program record.
Lamboy has helped Berry outscore opponents 143-6 at Valhalla Stadium this season. He now has 6.5 sacks on the year, leading the SAA. The Vikings are back in action this Saturday at Hendrix College.
