Football Places Three on All-Region Team

MINNEAPOLIS — The postseason honors are beginning to roll in for the Berry football team, as a trio of Vikings have been selected to the All-Region teams.

Senior defensive lineman Bryson Lamboy earned the lone first team selection. He is joined by senior defensive back Kevin Grier and senior offensive lineman Nick McGee who were selected to the second and third team, respectively.

Lamboy earned the Southern Athletic Association’s (SAA) Defensive Player of the year honor earlier this season, keeping the award on campus for the third consecutive year after Vikings’ alum Mamadou Soumahoro claimed the award the past two seasons. This year marks Lamboy’s first All-SAA first-team and All-Region honor after a career season. The Cave Springs, Ga., native posted career-highs in every major statistical category following the regular season, leading the league in sacks (9), forced fumbles (3) and fumble recoveries (2). Lamboy was also top-five in the league with 15 tackles for a loss.

Grier, a native of Lilburn, Ga., earns his first All-Region nod and graduates as a four-time All-Conference selection with three first-team selections. He closed the regular season with 39.0 tackles and tied a career-high with three interceptions.

McGee also earns his first All-Region honor. The Evans, Ga., native has been an anchor on the Vikings' offensive line for the past two seasons, competing in every game over that span. He was rewarded with his second straight All-SAA first team selection and led Berry to an SAA-leading 221.5 rushing yards per game, with 5.1 yards per carry and 18 rushing scores.
