Berry Equestrian Remains in National Spotlight

Following yet another strong season for the Berry equestrian team, the Vikings sent a total of six riders to the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) National Championships this season. From Hunt Seat, the Vikings were represented by Maggie Sanford and Andrea Hill. For Western, Berry sent Alex Sievenpiper, Sarah Cooper, Allie Robertson and Mary Catherine Hix.

Five of the six riders placed in the top 10, including three inside the top five, in their respective events.

"On Thursday, Maggie Sanford competed in the first event for Berry, placing 7th in individual Walk-Trot-Canter.  On Friday, Andrea Hill earned a 7th place finish in individual Walk-Trot Equitation. Sarah Cooper followed Hill in Novice Western Horsemanship, earning a 5th place finish.

Saturday was highlighted by Mary Catherine Hix's 4th place finish in Beginner Western Horsemanship, earning the highest placing for Berry on the weekend. On Sunday, Allie Robertson earned 5th in Intermediate Western Horsemanship, returning well to the event that she took the top spot in last year."
