Berry Equestrian Sweeps Regionals

ROME, Ga. – Berry College hosted the Hunter Seat and Western Regionals on Saturday at the Gunby Equine Center.

BC's hunter seat team won the region by 136 points ahead of the University of Alabama. BC will compete in the team competition at the Zones finals for a spot to compete at Nationals in May.

The Vikings' western team won the region by an equally impressive margin of 109 points over the University. of North Georgia. They also will be competing in the team competition at the semfinals in hopes of qualifying for Nationals. 

Results for hunter seat:

-Nicole Roos- Open Flat Champion, Open High Point Rider for the Year (which automatically qualifies her for Nationals)
-Autumn Clark- Intermediate Fences Champion
Madison Harris- Novice Flat Champion
Jessica Tabb- Walk-Trot-Canter Champion
 

Rest of placings (do not advance):

Amanda Peterson- Novice Flat- 3rd
Meghan O'Brien- Walk-Trot-Canter- 3rd

The following riders have individually qualified for the semifinals in Morehead, Ky with a first or second place finish at Regionals (in their division):

Andrea Smith- Open Reining Reserve (2nd) Champion, Open Horsemanship Reserve Champion, Open High Point Western rider of the Year (automatically qualifies her for Nationals).
Cecilia Shields-Auble- Novice Horsemansip Champion
Tania Vander Westhuizen- Novice Horsemanship Reserve Champion
Katie McSpadden- Intermediate Horsemanship Reserve Champion
Samantha Brown- Beginner Horsemanship Champion
Rachael Detweiler- Beginner Horsemanship Reserve Champion
