MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - A warm afternoon at Valhalla brought in beautiful conditions for the Berry Vikings to host the Meredith Avenging Angels. Following their victory against Virginia Wesleyan University in Virginia Beach, Virginia, the Vikings planned to use their momentum against a strong Meredith side. Unfortunately, the Vikings were not able to obtain the desired result, falling by a final score of 15-4.
The Avenging Angels broke out in stride early and maintained their momentum, establishing a sizeable lead against the Vikings, 11-0 at the half.
It was not until the 3rd quarter where the Vikings would keep the Avenging Angels honest until the conclusion of the match. Senior, Daniel Taraska, put the Vikings on the board, assisted by Junior, Elisabeth Vickery, in hopes of shifting the momentum in their favor. This was Dani's 9th goal of the season along with her 2nd game in a row in which she has scored. Unfortunately, to close out the quarter, the Angels scored 2 goals in response to take a 14-1 lead into the final period.
The final quarter saw Freshman, Lillie Swanson, putting her name on the board in favor of the Vikings marking her 8th goal of the season and also her 2nd game in a row in which she has scored. This was followed by a goal by sophomore, Morgan Barton, gave their Vikings their 3rd goal of the match marking her 3rd goal of the season. The Vikings started to create some momentum, keeping the Avenging Angels honest by chipping away at the goal deficit. This continued with Senior, Katie Clare Smith, marking her 6th goal of the season, and now having a 3 game streak of scoring a goal. The Avenging Angels finished the game with a late goal marking the final score as 15-4 in favor of the Avenging Angels.
The Vikings are looking to bounce back on February 25, 2026 against the Piedmont University Lions once again at Valhalla. First draw is set for 6 PM EST.
