| By:

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – Robert Nilsen has been named the new Director of Sports Information & Promotions at Berry College, as announced by Director of Athletics Dr. Angel Mason. Nilsen will oversee all aspects of athletic communication for the Vikings' 22 sports.

"We are excited to welcome Robert to our Berry College community," said Dr. Mason. "With his experience and fresh perspective, he will do a great job helping our Viking athletic programs connect with fans and prospective families. We can't wait to see all the ways he will help elevate the student-athlete experience."

Nilsen joins the department with eight years of experience in the industry, including the last three years as the Sports Information Director for Hope International University, an NAIA institution in Fullerton, California. While there, he oversaw all communications for the 23 sports the Royals offered. He helped grow the Royals' presence on social media by developing new ideas to promote the Royals brand, while also upgrading their streaming production and securing a better fan experience. Nilsen documented many great Royals moments, including the baseball program winning its first-ever NAIA National Championship in 2024.

Prior to Hope International, Nilsen began his college athletics career as the Assistant Sports Information Director at another NAIA institution, Arizona Christian University, where he was the primary contact for Men's and Women's Cross Country, Men's and Women's Soccer, Men's and Women's Swimming, Wrestling, Women's Basketball, Men's and Women's Golf, Baseball, and Beach Volleyball. Before that, he was the Communications Coordinator for USA Water Polo for three years and started his sports information journey as the Sports Information and Marketing Intern at Cypress College.

Nilsen brings a strong athletic background to the department as a former junior college swimmer and water polo player and has a great passion for sports. He earned an Associate's Degree in Business Administration from Las Positas College in 2014, a Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Real Estate, and Law from Cal Poly Pomona in 2016, and a Master's Degree in Sport Management from Long Beach State in 2018.
