MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - After recently being assigned to the NFCA First Team All-Region VI squad, Ava Fouts has been named to the NFCA All-American Third Team as a utility.
The sophomore jack of all trades made a huge impact on the team's success and was a catalyst for dominance in yet another successful Viking softball season. Ava boasted an impressive .433 batting average with 58 hits on the season. Fouts accumulated a total of 13 extra base hits and a home run as well. To round out her batting profile, she demonstrated terrific power throughout the season with a .577 slugging percentage.
In the outfield, Fouts posed a huge challenge to opposing batters with her range and speed, as well as arm strength. The Canton, Georgia, native's presence kept many baserunners at bay, with the fear of being thrown out by the sophomore's outstanding arm talent. Statistically, she brought in a total of 16 putouts and 11 assists on the season to help pace the Berry outfield.
Ava's best game came in the SAA Championship against Millsaps, where she had 3 hits in just 4 at-bats. Those three hits led to Fouts scoring two runs and driving in three in the resounding 12-4 victory to clinch an SAA Tournament Championship. Look out for the versatile sophomore to be a headliner for Vikings softball for years to come.
