JACKSON, Miss. - The Berry Softball team completed their regular season four-peat with a dominant 9-1 victory over Millsaps this afternoon.
In the five-inning game,
Lauren Cothern did it again at the plate! With singles from
Ava Fouts (who gained her 100th career hit just as a sophomore) and
Paige Bennett to get things started, Cothern hit a three-run homer against the Majors to go up quickly 3-0.
Hannah Gore earned the start in the circle and threw four innings before Fouts finished it off in the fifth. Only one run for Millsaps would cross and that came in the bottom of the second inning, Vikings still up 3-1.
Berry responded with a six run-six hit inning to follow. Capitalizing on two errors by the Majors, Berry had a huge turn around from yesterday.
RBIs came from a double by Fouts, a two-run double, a single from
Avery Greeson,
Rachel Runsick, and one from
Erica Bennett. Berry's sixth run was from a Millsaps wild pitch.
Gore and Fouts continued their combined work and finished out as the Vikings claimed to be victorious as SAA Champions.
The Vikings have one more doubleheader next weekend against Emory before heading to the SAA Tournament in Columbus, Georgia.
