MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The Berry Men's Lacrosse team captured an 18-6 win over Oglethorpe this afternoon on Senior Day.
Before the initial face-off the Vikings took time to honor their 11 seniors for their commitment and hard work in their career.
It did not take long for the Vikings offense to get hot after that. Under the heat at Valhalla, the Vikings took a quick 5-0 lead in the first period, with two goals being from
Joey Cuthbert.
The Stormy Petrels took their turn on a run, but the Vikings defense limited them to two goals as both teams headed to the second period. Senior,
Shane Suralik notched two and Cuthbert found his third goal of the game to hype up the sidelines and have an 8-2 advantage.
Before halftime, Oglethorpe scored two more goals, but Suralik did it once again to open up play in the third and mark the Vikings home turf.
Berry was on a scoring rampage from that point up outscoring the Petrels 9-2 in the next thirty minutes of play with fresh faces consistently subbing in.
The Vikings featured four different keepers in the game starting with
Jacob Briggs who handed the reigns to
Evan Cuffe,
Thomas Burgee and
Frederick Giovanelli closed it out for the staggering defeat at home of the Petrels.
Berry will now host the first round of the SAA tournament on Saturday, April 26 against Southwestern University at 12:00 PM ET.
