MOUNT BERRY, Ga.- The Berry Men's Lacrosse team suited up today in the rain to take on Southern Athletic Association foe Hendrix, defeating them 19-11.
With a 3-0 start for the Warriors, the Vikings had some regrouping to do to capture their first SAA victory. In front of their home crowd at Valhalla,
Gray Casey scored the first goal for the team as they ended the first period with two and went on their way to a 5-0 run to capture the lead at 5-3.
By the end of the first half, Casey had scored three goals, and the Vikings were up 6-4, a lead that they would never lose.
Jacob Briggs earned his second win of the season in the goal today for Berry with seven saves while
Tim Salisbury erupted on defense forcing five turnovers.
In the second half, the Vikings began to create separation with three other players scoring three goals apiece and with a big 6-0 running in the fourth period alone. Â
As a team Berry out-shot Hendrix by more than 20 attempted shots. Winning more faceoffs was a crucial component to the win and success of the Vikings who went down early but fought hard to hold down their home turf.
The team will be back in action Friday April 4 at 6:00 PM ET at home against Southwestern.
