MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The Berry Vikings are now 3-0 to start conference play after completing the sweep of Hendrix this afternoon.
With
Hannah Gore starting in the circle, the Vikings were on their way to an 8-4 win over the Hendrix Warriors.
Gore clinched her eighth win of the season and
Ava Fouts was 3-3 at the plate scoring two runs.Â
To start the first inning the Vikings wanted to maintain their momentum from the two wins yesterday. A Fouts double started things off and
Paige Bennett followed her with a single to push her across the plate for run number one. Two strikeouts and a fly out at the beginning of the 2
nd put Berry back at the plate quickly.
In the bottom of the second, Berry scored three runs on two hits: one from P. Bennett and a two-run double by
Kennedy Moody.Â
Now up 4-0, the Vikings were sitting comfortably but Hendrix shook things up scoring one in the top of the third and then shutting down the next three Berry batters.
Hendrix would score one more run in the top of the fourth and things would go quiet for the fifth on both sides of the field.
Berry had a big sixth inning with four runs on three hits to create separation again at 8-2, the Warriors looked to make a comeback in the seventh as
Megan Rapillo came in to close it out. However, the Warriors scored two more runs and Berry recorded their final out of the game.
Softball will return to action on March 29 at Centre College.
