DANVILLE, Ky. - The Men's Track and Field team sits in second place behind Centre College after day one of the SAA Championships with 36 points.
The Berry men started off strong in the weight throw with
Dawson Livingston leading the way to repeat as the conference champion in the weight throw with a throw of 17.28m a new PR, school record, and to extend his own conference record. Teammate
Mason Robinson trailed for a second place finish at 16.33m a new PR of his own in his last meet as a Viking.
Liam Jeffries took his go in the long jump with an impressive 5.78m as a freshman and the only Berry athlete to compete in the event.Â
Troy Blackwood had an amazing race in the 5000m to take second and second team All-SAA honors with a time of 15:18.84, a new PR.
In the 4000m Distance Medley Relay, the team of
Ethan Smith,
Caleb Pritchett,
Andy Forsyth, and T Harris claimed second to earn points for their team at 10:27.99.
In the prelims of today,
Jahari Jones showed out! First running the 400m to qualify for finals at 52.80 and then ten minutes later taking on the 60m prelims at 6.88 to qualify for finals tomorrow with a time that is faster than the conference record. Later he came back to qualify for the 200m with a top 7 time in the nation, 21.79.
Jaden Melville went for a PR in the 60m (7.19).Â
