MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Viking women's indoor track and field has been chosen to finish third in this season's Southern Athletic Association Preseason Poll.
The Vikings look to solidify themselves as contenders in the conference behind a balanced slate of talent across their roster in each area of competition.
Long distance phenom Anna Ayers is back for her senior season, after taking home two first place finishes at last year's conference tournament and a USTFCCCA All-Region nod as well. Olivia Lambert also returns as a distance specialist and USTFCCCA All-Region selection.
The throwers will be led by junior star Onoyeme Egure, who finished as a champion in shot put and second in the weight throw. She was also a SAA Indoor Field Athlete of the Year and USTFCCCA Second Team All-American. Egure is joined by Avery Jones, who is also a formidable threat and champion of the weight throw along with being a USTFCCCA All-Region performer.
The sprinters are paced by speedy senior Macy Murdock, who is coming off two first place finishes at the conference tournament in the outdoor season last spring and an All-Region finish in both indoor and outdoor last season.
In the leaping contests, Kris Williams looks to build off her all-region season last year as a high jump specialist.
The preseason poll is voted on by the confrence's nine head coaches.
