Volleyball Secures Five All-SAA Honors

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - With the postseason looming, Viking Volleyball impressed their competitors this season with a total of 5 Vikings making their way to All-SAA recognition highlighted by Ava Brovet earning Rookie of the Year and First Team All-SAA, while Madie Whitehead earned First-Team recognition as well. 

Brovet's tremendous freshmen season saw her accumulate an astounding 945 assists as the lead setter for Berry. In addition to her setting prowess, the freshman from Raleigh, North Carolina also added 61 kills, proving herself as an elite skip-set threat. She was also a force on the front line with 61 total blocks and 202 digs for a total of 137.5 points on the season on her way to All-SAA First Team and Rookie of the Year. Ava's stellar performances landed her on the UW Whitewater Invite and Mount Berry Tournament All-Tournament Team early in the season.  

Madie Whitehead's breakout junior season saw her dominate with 368 kills on the season on her way to a First Team All-SAA nod. Her presence as an attacker was on full display, with three 20-plus kill games, including her career-high 24 kills (26 points) against Southwestern on October 19. The Pearland, Texas, native also won SAA Offensive Athlete of the Week on three separate occasions and was a member of the UW Whitewater Invite and Mount Berry Tournament All-Tournament Teams. 

Lura Underwood continued her outstanding play this season with her third consecutive all-conference honor, this time on the All-SAA Second Team. The senior from Atlanta has accumulated 234 kills, a team-leading 55 service aces, 25 blocks, and 15 assists this season. Her best all-around performance came on October 19 against Southwestern, where she poured in one of her five double-doubles on the season with 17 kills and 15 assists.  

Keira Kruk earned her way to an All-SAA Honorable Mention after another impressive season on the outside for the Vikings. She was second on the team with 266 kills, 38 blocks, and she also had 200 digs defensively to help anchor the Viking defense. The Naples, Florida, native's best game was at Rhodes on October 12, when she blasted through 17 kills and secured 12 digs in the 3-1 victory. The junior had five total double-doubles of her own on the season on her way to the Honorable Mention.

Maddie Dahl won the All-SAA Sportsmanship Team Award for her contributions as a teammate throughout the season for the Vikings.
