GEORGETOWN, Tx.—Berry's Ella Williams claimed All-Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Second Team recognition following her 10th-place showing at the SAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday, helping lead the Vikings to a fourth-place finish in a tightly contested field.
The Vikings accumulated a team score of 124, averaging a 24:10 6K per runner. Rhodes College bested the Vikings for third place with a score of 65. Trinity University swept the Cross Country Championships for first place with a low score of 30. Centre claimed second place with 57 points on the morning.
Williams was the sole Viking to claim an SAA honor with her 10th place finish in 23:12.3. Freshman Natalie Sinclair was the second Berry runner to clock in at the finish with a time of 23:52.6 for 25th place.
Olivia Lambert turned in a solid performance for the Vikings, clocking 24:03.1 to take 30th as Berry's third scorer. Captain Leine Burke followed close behind in 38th with a time of 24:38.8, and Abby Reams sealed the scoring effort with a 44th-place finish in 25:07.8.
Leine Burke garnered SAA All-Sportsmanship Team recognition for her unwavering competitiveness and support of her teammates throughout the season.
The Vikings will get to work for the NCAA South Region Championship in Salem, Virginia on Nov. 15 for a chance to qualify for Nationals in late November.
