MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The Berry women's soccer team opened up conference play Friday night at home against Southwestern University. The Vikings ended in a 0-0 draw against the Pirates in a defensive showdown, where they moved to 6-2-2 on the year.
The game ended with zero goals for the Vikings but that did not tell the full story of the game as the offense recorded 19 shots over the course of the game, with the Pirate goalie having to make nine saves.
Giselle Aitken started the game off early with two shots on goal, both saved by the opposing goalie. Aitken led the way for the Vikings with four shots over the course of the game and three recording as shots on goal.
Ide Strickland also recorded four shots for the Vikings.
The Viking defense shut down the Pirate offense for most of the game, limiting them to just eight total shots and three on goal. Goalkeeper
Kate Hill saved all three attempts to secure the clean sheet.
The women's soccer team returns to Bob Pearson Field on Monday against Trinity University.
