Men's Basketball Set to Defend Their Title in 2025-2026

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - After one of their most successful seasons in school history, Berry Men's Basketball looks to continue their ongoing dynasty in the Southern Athletic Association, with the unveiling of their 2025-2026 schedule.

With head coach Matthew Richter leading his team to SAA Regular Season and Tournament Championships and the program's first ever NCAA Tournament win in just his first season at the helm, the Vikings are primed for another historic season in 2025-2026.

Despite losing three key players in Braxton Benham, Jacob Morgan, and Parker Godwin, Berry is still loaded with talented returners and newcomers. Consistent contributors like Canon Armstead, Isaac Martin, Cameron Pope, Ryan Luttrell, and Drew Winegarden will look to take their games to another level to maintain the Vikings' championship pedigree.

In the paint, look for sophomore Nile King to step into an even larger role offensively and defensively for the Vikings this season after his stellar freshman year. Accompanying him is sophomore Mason Lawrence, who is looking to have a breakout season as a dynamic force on the interior.

The Vikings begin their quest for greatness with a two-game homestand featuring their home opener against Centenary College on November 7 and then a duel with Maryville on the following day, who the Vikings were just barely defeated by last season.  Berry then hits the road to tangle with Asbury and Transylvania in round-robin style fashion on November 14 and 15. Berry then returns home to take on in-state foe, Covenant College, on November 18. Just before Thanksgiving, the Vikings take on Hanover College on November 22.

Following Thanksgiving, Berry gets right back to business with their first SAA contest of the year at Oglethorpe on December 3. Then, the Vikings hit the road for a rematch with Emory University on December 7, who defeated them in the second round of the NCAA Tournament last season. Following that, the Vikings' in-state tour continues with a matchup at LaGrange College on December 13. Berry's action-packed slate of games continues as they do battle with Belhaven at home on December 17, who they will be looking for retribution against after falling on a buzzer-beater last season on their home floor.

After Christmas, Berry closes out non-conference play with a trip to Louisville, Kentucky, to face Spalding on December 29 and another matchup against Belhaven, this time in Jackson, Mississippi, on January 3.

SAA play heats up with the Vikings heading to Texas to face the SAA's newly acquired schools, Southwestern and Trinity, on January 9 and January 11. On the following weekend, the Vikings take on two pivotal battles against Centre and Sewanee on January 16 and 18, who were both formidable in the conference last season. The Vikings will then hit the road to face Millsaps and Rhodes on January 23 and 25. Then, the Vikings face the same two teams at home the following weekend.

With conference play winding down, the Vikings head to Danville, Kentucky, for the second installment of action against last season's SAA Tournament runners up in the Centre Colonels on February 6. On February 8, the Vikings swing by Sewanee to try to pick up another huge win nearing the end of the regular season. On the following weekend, the Vikings host the two newcomers in Southwestern and Trinity on February 13 and 15. To close out the regular season, Berry hosts Oglethorpe in what is sure to be a showdown at the Cage Center on February 21.

The SAA Tournament will begin on February 26 and will conclude on February 28.
