Box Score ROME, Ga. - In today's non-conference match up, Berry Men's Tennis took down the Lions of Wallace State 7-2.

After a strong showing this past weekend versus Hendrix College, the men were eager to continue their streak heading into today's match versus Wallace State Community College. First singles jumped off to a strong start, with Noah Koch / Diego Lopez leading the charge 8-3. Bohdan Higley / Drayton Matus at second doubles found themselves in a hole down 1-4, but were able to regain composure to make it a close 8-5 lose. With the match scores tied 1-1, it came down to Jake Chapman / Aiden Benoualid's decisive tiebreak which they were able to narrowly win 8-7 (7-5). However, Jake Chapman had received an injury which left him unable to compete in singles.

Despite an adjustment in the roster, the Berry men were still able to jump to a strong start with Noah Koch at first singles leading the charge 6-2, 6-0. This was closely followed by Drayton Matus at third singles winning 6-1, 6-3 to put Berry up 4-1 in match scores. With only one more win required to clinch the match, Diego Lopez at second singles delivered with a 6-4, 6-3 win. Jace Goode at fourth singles was able to mount an impressive resistance but it was not enough, losing 1-6, 5-7. However, Aiden Benoualid and Carsten Balao at fifth and sixth singles, respectively, were able to finish their marathon matches on a positive note, both delivering wins 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 and 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, respectively.

After a strong performance over this past weekend and today, the men will look to continue their momentum into this Saturday's conference match versus one of their toughest rivals yet, Sewanee: The University of the South.
