Box Score MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Berry takes their SAA record to 2-0 with the road defeat of the Lynx from Rhodes College in tonight's contest, 11-8.
Addison Irwin has been a big contributor to this three-game win streak, as he has earned all three wins himself between the pipes. Tonight his 10 saves benefited the Vikings defensively.
Scoring wise,
Finn McClendon and
Ethan Perlakowski combined for six goals, three a piece to lead the team in scoring.
Rhodes struck first in the opening minute for a quick goal and lead, but
Collin Dean fired one back to tie the game but the goals again went back and forth with a Rhodes goal and
Michael McKenzie scoring his 30
th goal of the season.
Now tied at two Perlakowski decided to take the Viking lead with his first goal of the night assisted by McKenzie.
In the final six seconds of the first period, McClendon scored an unassisted goal to boost energy and have a two goal lead before the second.
The next 15 minutes consisted of a 2-2 run, but again it was McClendon scoring under a minute to boost the lead to 7-4 at the half.
Rhodes brought the score back within two in the third as the Vikings were only able to add one goal in the 15 minute period and in the opening 10 seconds of the fourth, the Lynx found themselves down one at 8-7.
Berry finally snapped out of their funk with three consecutive goals to build back up their lead and hold off the conference opponent for the win.
The team will be back in action on Sunday at Hendrix for another SAA game featuring the Vikings and Warriors at 1:00 PM ET.
