Berry Wins Over Salisbury

Box Score ROME, Ga. - Vikings Men's Tennis won another close match today, this time against Salisbury at 5-4.

The men looked to extend their 3-match winning streak heading into today's match vs. Salisbury University. A strong start by Diego Matus and Bohdan Higley at second doubles led to the first match being won 8-6, but Diego Lopez / Noah Koch at first doubles and Jake Chapman / Aiden Benoualid at third doubles headed into tiebreaks. Third doubles unfortunately lost 7-0 in their tiebreak, but first doubles prevailed 7-4 in their tiebreak to give Berry College a 2-1 match edge heading into singles.

It was a sight to see as all six men played simultaneously on adjacent courts at the Rome Tennis Center, creating an electric atmosphere. Jace Goode and Noah Koch both secured decisive two-set victories at first and fifth singles, respectively, and with only one more match win needed to clinch the team victory, Drayton Matus at third singles delivered with at 6-2, 6-4 match win. However, despite the victory clinched, the remaining Berry players continued a strong fight but were unfortunately beaten, with Diego Lopez, Jake Chapman, and Aiden Benoualid losing at second, fourth, and sixth singles, respectively.

With a 5-4 victory over Salisbury University, the men will look to extend their lead into this Sunday's matches, where they will play a double header against Emory University followed by the Christian Brothers University which will prove to be a test of both physical and mental strength.
